Moving into college is an exciting time but can also be a bit overwhelming. Here are some essentials that you'll need to make your room feel a little more like home and to make the college transition a bit smoother.
Hang pants in the most efficient way in your teeny tiny closet with these vertical hangers, Currently 20% off!
Todays college student doesn't have quite the number of cords as we did (desktop computer??) you'll still need some surge protectors. This 2 pack is a great deal with extra long, flexible cords and has good reviews. 6 plugs and 2 USB on each and you should be good to go.
Dorm bed mattresses aren't the most comfortable, they're thin, hard, and to be honest can be kind of icky. Bring a mattress topper, like this one to make your bed comfy cozy.
You'll need a shower caddy, especially if your room doesn't have its own shower. This one is actually large enough to carry all your bottles and loofahs but has holes on the bottom to drain water. Also comes with grey, red and yellow handle options.
Tip for you, bring a robe, like this one, for walking back to your room. You don't want to be awkwardly holding your towel from coming unwrapped from your body while trying to carry a shower caddy back to your room. Also bring shower shoes.
You're going to need a mini fridge, so you might as well have a cute one. This one is 3.1 cubic ft and has a separate door for the freezer, meaning it actually keeps things frozen. It also has an interior light, adjustable shelves and is currently on sale for under $200.
If you're anything like me, you're going to want a coffee maker. Don't get one that takes k-cups, they're terrible for the planet. The BLACK+DECKER 4-in-1 Coffee Station gives so many options at a great price. The adjustable stand lets you brew into a standard mug, a tall travel mug, the included 5-cup carafe, and it works for pour overs due to the removable brew basket. No need for paper filters. The permanent metal filter works with your favorite coffee grounds and it's easy to clean.
Maybe it's just me, but when I buy a comforter, I buy a size larger than the bed needs. It hangs over the edges a bit more, looks a little better and lets me snuggle up. This one in a queen size is under $30 and I love the stripe design. And it's reversible. Side note, you'll also need to bring 2 sets of sheets and your own pillows (and cases)!
Something you might not thing about that you'll need, is a trash can, even if it's a small one. This 2.3L option is sleek, doesn't take up a bunch of space, comes in black, bronze and white as well as this brass color. Uses 4 gallon bags.
